Canal Boat Trip Summer Social

Amelia is organising a canal boat trip on 3 July as our Summer social event. Do please note the early meeting time. This is not Druid time: the boat is unlikely to wait. If you want to come, please reply to this post by 23 June, so that we have an idea of numbers and Amelia can book some seats. It would be a shame if a lot of people turned up and found there was no more space in the boat!

This is the plan:
Meet at Perivale station at 12 noon, since the trip starts on that side of Horsenden Hill.
The boat leaves at 12.30 pm for a 1 hour 45 min trip. The trip costs £5.50
There is a bar on the boat and you can pre-book a ploughman’s lunch, with ham or cheese, which costs £4.50
So if you want to come, order your lunch at the same time.

I’m really looking forward to this one.

P.S. I have also posted this in the “Conversation” section, so that people are more likely to see it.

After the bombings… healing?

I feel I’ve been rather remiss in not asking after people any sooner. In part I’ve been assuming most London Grovers (!) don’t use the tube in rush hour most of the time. But I’d like to know everyone is OK, if I can – so maybe people could add a quick comment here.

Lughnasadh call for prop

Filed under: Conversation — hilde @ 9:52 am

Hi everyone,

The Lughnasadh ceremony is coming together nicely. Just one thing: neither Andrew nor I have anything that fits the description of a ‘dark cloak (or blanket)’. Is there anyone who will be coming who can bring such a thing? It would be very helpful.

Many thanks.

Meet at 3pm at Theydon Bois tube car park. From there we’ll walk 10 mins to Theydon Plain, where we will look for a good place to have the ritual.

Afterwards we may retire to the nearby Sixteen String Jack pub for a complementary kind of celebration.

Please call Andrew a few days in advance, so we have an idea of numbers his mobile number is 07798 665892.

If anyone can bring a nice earthenware pitcher and/or bowl, please post a comment.

We look forward to seeing you there.
