After yesterday’s Lughnasadh ceremony, the London Grove members present made a provisional decision about what we can do together to heal our city after the terrorist attacks of 7 and 21 July and protect it from further harm.
From our conversation on this web site, it had already become clear that we wanted to do something, the only question really was what. To get guidance from Spirit, I did a shamanic journey, asking “What can London Grove do to help heal and protect our city after the terrorist attacks?” (more…)

Thanks to Francesca for suggesting this visit to an ancient Yew near Runnymede (nearest station Wraysbury, accessed from Waterloo).
We will meet at 3.35 pm at Wraysbury station. Note the time is a bit later than usual to allow for the longer journey.
The train leaves from London Waterloo at 14.44 and arrives at 15.35. You will need to plan to arrive at Waterloo in good time for this train, as there is only one an hour!
Look out for the train to Feltham, Staines, and Windsor & Eton Riverside on the boards. It also stops at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Putney, Richmond, and Twickenham so if any of those are more useful, check the
Sunday timetable.
If the train is delayed, please contact Francesca if you have her mobile number (Daniel’s mobile has just broken).
Return times from Wraysbury are 8 minutes past the hour every hour.
Daniel can offer a lift to two people, if anyone would find it easier to get to Crystal Palace. Please phone him a week in advance if you’d like to book a lift. If anyone else would like to offer a lift-share, please post a comment here, along with your location and contact number.
Approximate map of area
Apparently the yew is somewhere near the marked priory on the north bank of the Thames (opposite side from Runnymede). Wraysbury station is further NE of this on map.
Please phone Daniel in advance or leave a comment here if you are coming along. 020 8771 6941
Sorry, Daniel’s mobile has just broken so it won’t be available.
While we were chatting after the seedgroup today it became apparent that a few people had been disappointed by some B&Bs in Glastonbury. My only experience is of staying at the following, but I would not hesitate to recommend it:

Superb breakfasts, lovely rooms, close to town centre, and a warm welcome from Angela and her cat. I recommend you also schedule some time for a relaxing candlelit bath! At the Winter Gathering last year I think every guest was an OBODie.

I’m posing this question on behalf of Daniel as I am online right now. He is looking for somewhere reasonably near to London where he can find some gorse bushes. I wondered if any of you might remember a good location? The nearest I can think of are the Sussex Downs near Ditchling Beacon, and Blean Woods in Kent – both a bit of a drive away.

Thank you, Lorraine, for sending this photo. And thank you to Francesca and Daniel for organising this beautiful meeting. That yew tree is a really impressive being, making the place where it stands sacred.
Somebody said that the photo was going to look like a bunch of really good children on a school outing, but I think it shows the calming and grounding effect the tree had on us all. Our little gathering and meditation will now be part of its very long memory.

Here are few of my pictures. My camera isn’t very good in anything other than bright light, though. And, sadly, Daniel is asleep on this one.

And a couple of atmospheric ones:

Alex, being his usual sensible self, has suggested that we should make more of the articles on our site public, for everyone to see. Because as it is at the moment, and random surfer happening upon us will get the impression we’re a theoretical and mostly inactive group. Which can’t be good for attracting new members.
Do you agree with this and if so, what articles do you think could be public?
I think the upcoming events should definitely be private, but I don’t see why reports on things that have already happened should be. And some of our conversations could be interesting to the public as well.
What do you think?
Here are the dates for the next quarter of London Grove events. If you want them to happen, please volunteer to organise one of them. It’s not as scary as it sounds: you don’t have to do it on your own.
30/10/05: Samhain (Mark organising)
27/11/05: Ancestors (Lorraine and Hilde organising)
18/12/05: Winter Solstice (volunteers needed)
8/1/06: seedgroup (Francesca organising)
So far, nobody has volunteered for the Winter Solstice ceremony. There is still time to do so. If no-one comes forward, we will have no celebration for Alban Arthan.
