After yesterday’s Lughnasadh ceremony, the London Grove members present made a provisional decision about what we can do together to heal our city after the terrorist attacks of 7 and 21 July and protect it from further harm.
From our conversation on this web site, it had already become clear that we wanted to do something, the only question really was what. To get guidance from Spirit, I did a shamanic journey, asking “What can London Grove do to help heal and protect our city after the terrorist attacks?” During that journey, I was guided by an Ancestor of the Land. He showed me London as a spider’s web of connections and relationships. This is an outline of the ceremony he showed me:
- go to the River Thames close to St. Paul’s
– connect with each other and with the land
– take water from the Thames and take it to a green place
– sit in a circle meditating and talking about the qualities we all want to bless London with
– each person present breathes a quality into the water
– each person present takes some of the water with them to bless places of power and connection in London as they move around the city.
The Ancestor showed me how this ceremony would strengthen the web of connections that is London, making it into a golden web that is a smaller version of the Web of Life.
The other members present agreed that this would be a beautiful and powerful thing for us to do. So now we have to decide a few things.
Where exactly will we do this?
At what time? It would be handy for water gathering if the tide was high. If I read the information of the Port of London Authority correctly, high tide is at 17.21. Which means our usual time of 3pm probably isn’t too bad.
Everyone will need to bring at least one small bottle that closes well. You don’t want Thames water to leak into your personal possessions. The extra bottle is in case anyone couldn’t find a suitable receptacle.
Anyone with any more ideas or objections or whatever, please post a comment. We have another two months to get this right.
Sounds nice. It does not matter much about the tide because there are a number of places on the south side (st paul’s visible) where there are steps down so whether the tide is in and you can fill bottles from the steps or have to walk down to the beach – you can still get to the water. There is one north side access point but the steps are a bit scary! If we go to the north side steps we could go to Postman’s park which is quiet and moving as they have plaques there dedicated to people who have died rescuing others.

Anna – I love the idea of doing the ritual in Postman’s Park! It *is* a moving place, and very cose to St Paul’s. Here’s a link for anyone who has not heard of the park… it’s very public, but in this instance more perhaps than any other I see no harm in being in the public eye:

I once stumbled upon this place long ago. It sounds like the perfect place to have our ceremony.
I think the idea of the ceremony is for the taking of the water to be part of the whole thing. If there is a bridge nearby, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Of course it can be modified slightly, as long as we are by the river to start with I think it’d be OK for the water to be taken earlier.

It is actually very quiet on a Sunday – no one goes there at all ‘ceptin’ me sometimes. And there is the (formerly known as) wobbly bridge near by – just south of St Paul’s and the scary stairs I was talking about are on the north side of there – with a not so scary set on the south side near Tate modern – which would be crowded on a sunday.

This sounds like a jolly good idea. Let me know when you are doing it. Love to come along. Also near postman’s park is the site of St Mary Staininghage at St Albans place, now a small green space of good energy. I will bring some holy well water for the thames. A bit of an exchange for what we will take. Will also take water to some of the points of the earthstar patterns around london. Will be doing a London Healing walk with a group from Fountain International (earth healing mob) next sunday to start the process off.
