This seedgroup will be hosted by Hilde and Lorraine, and will take place at Daniel and Lorraine’s house, which is 8 Telford Close, London SE19 3AG (Crystal Palace). The date is 27th November 2005, at 3pm.
Please call Lorraine on 020 8771 6941, a day or two beforehand if you are going to come along, or post a comment here.
Transport:
1) I can reserve one parking space if you call me in advance (first come first served). Otherwise I can direct to a nearby public car park.
2) Otherwise train from Victoria main line station to Gipsy Hill, then walk up steep hill.
Get a “West Croydon via Crystal Palace” train to Gipsy Hill station. These seem to be at 8 and 38 minutes past the hour on a Sunday.
At Gipsy Hill station, turn rightwards out of the station to walk UP the hill. At the top of the hill, cross over the main road (Central Hill) and continue straight on, passing Cooper Giles and Cafe Lava on your right. You are now in Westow Street. Walk along Westow Street until you come to Carberry Road on your left. Turn down Carberry Road and walk past the Victorian cottages to the end. At the end, turn right and ours is the house on the corner (number 8 Telford Close) which is a 1980s house.
3) Or bus number 3 from Oxford Circus, Whitehall (either end), or Brixton tube – to Crystal Palace bus station.
Stay on the bus until the end of the route. It stops on Crystal Palace Parade on the same side as the park and bus station. Walk past the bus station on your left until you get to the corner. Cross over to Westow Hill which has the Cambridge and Bluebottle pubs on either corner. Walk down Westow Hill and turn left at Pizza Express down St Aubyn’s Road. Then take the second road on the right, which is Telford Close. Walk straight on and my house is number 8, in front of you at the end.
Other buses: 122, 157, 202, 227, 249, 322, 358, 363, 410, 417, 432, 450
What will this seedgroup be about? Will we be discussing what the ancestors mean to us, or will it be a more meditation-focused group, or a bit of both?!
Great to see everyone yesterday by the way!

Yes, it was a good day out yesterday – and fortunate that the weather wasn’t like it is today!
I haven’t really done much towards planning this yet, but I think it’s most likely to be both. I was going to update this with some more detail once Hilde and I have worked out the structure, but as it’s a fair way away at present, that may not be for a while.

Have just seen that it says this seedgroup is on 27th November on the diary, whereas it says 20th on the info above! Which one is the misprint?!

Thanks for spotting that. I just corrected it. It’s the 27th.

Hello all. I have a nasty feeling I’m not going to be able to come to this as the train line from London to Norwich is being majorly disrupted several weekends in a row this month to do engineering works, which means lines all up spout, replacement buses for half the way and therefore an incredibly long journey. I shall check nearer the time if they’ll have finished by 27th, in which case I’ll definitely be there, but if not, may have to give it a miss.

I was just checking the national rail site, and for one moment I was a bit worried Crystal Palace had engineering works too – but it’s only between there and Croydon, the line north of Crystal Palace won’t be affected. It looks like the engineering works you mean, if they’re the ones Diss-Ipswich, are going to take place up until December 11. Never mind, see you in January.

Certainly plan on being there! Will call if anything goes awry.

Well it looks like I won’t be able to join you after all. Clare went into labour on Friday morning and delivered Alfred Eric and Audrey Boudicca on Friday afternoon. It was a natural birth, but since they were only at 33 weeks they were very small – only 4lb each. They are both in the special baby care unit at St Mary’s and will probably be there until the New Year. Audrey is doing really well, and we were able to cuddle her for the first time today. She is in a cot and breathing normally. Alfred is poorly but stable – his delivery was quite a traumatic one… we were rushed into theatre for him to be delivered by C-Section, but the consultant reached inside, made him turn a somersault and delivered him normally. HHe was fairly yanked around though, and so is heavily bruised. They thought he might have broken his arm, but it seems to be OK. Alfred is breathing himself, but needs help. He’s got a lot of wires and tubes and looks a bit worried, but we’re told he should pull through fine. It’s hard not being able to hold him but that should come soon enough. I said the Druids Prayer over both of them this morning, which felt like a special welcome into the world. Will write more when I get more time, but right now it’s a lot of shuttling to and from the hospital and trying to do in the next few days what we thought we had another 5 weeks to complete! You’ll be in my thoughts on Sunday.

One final thought. I guess this makes me an ancestor now. I better live up to it :-).

You, Clare, Alfred and Audrey will be in my thoughts too – that was a bit earlier than you expected! It’s wonderful, though – congratulations.

PS that above comment was from me – didn’t realise Daniel was logged in – but he says congratulations too.

I welcome the two souls on their journey into life.
(this is really Daniel this time!)

Wow, Andrew, congratulations. I’ll be thinking about the four of you, too. Hopefully everything will go well from now on.

Thanks to those that came along to the ancestors seedgroup and to Hilde for her excellent advance preparation and guided meditation. I was quite nervous about even partially co-hosting this as I hadn’t volunteered for a seedgroup before, but it’s provided me with a good deal of food for thought, just as a good seedgroup meeting should. I compiled a list of web links relating to genealogical research and pagan approaches to death and dying, but forgot to hand them out to everyone, so I’ll put those up as a new topic under ‘Conversations’ in case they are of interest to anyone else as well.

Many congratulations Andrew – how wonderful. All blessings to the four of you!
