As discussed in emails recently.

Agenda: to discuss how many meetings we are going to aim for in the next year, what types of meetings, what times we should have them, and who is going to organise them.

Date/time: Sunday 22nd January at 2pm.

If we finish early, there are some nice pubs around we might adjourn to afterwards.

Address: 8 Telford Close, London SE19 3AG. Nearest station Gipsy Hill or Crystal Palace (take the train to West Croydon from Victoria).

Telephone 020 8771 6941. Please phone a couple of days before, to confirm if you’re coming (just so we can find enough chairs, tea, etc.)

Transport:
1) I can reserve one parking space if you call me in advance (first come first served). Otherwise I can direct to a nearby public car park.
2) Otherwise train from Victoria main line station to Gipsy Hill, then walk up steep hill.
Get a “West Croydon via Crystal Palace” train to Gipsy Hill station. These seem to be at 8 and 38 minutes past the hour on a Sunday.
At Gipsy Hill station, turn rightwards out of the station to walk UP the hill. At the top of the hill, cross over the main road (Central Hill) and continue straight on, passing Cooper Giles and Cafe Lava on your right. You are now in Westow Street. Cross over Westow Street and carry on past Ovett Close and Gurkha Cottage on your left, until you come to Carberry Road on your left. Turn down Carberry Road and walk past the Victorian cottages to the end. At the end, turn right and ours is the house on the corner (number 8 Telford Close) which is a 1980s house.
3) Or bus number 3 from Oxford Circus, Whitehall (either end), or Brixton tube – to Crystal Palace bus station. Note for Anna: you can pick up number 3 bus from near the Imperial War Museum.
Stay on the bus until the end of the route. It stops on Crystal Palace Parade on the same side as the park and bus station. Walk past the bus station on your left until you get to the corner. Cross over Crystal Palace Parade and walk round the corner so you are by the Bluebottle pub. The road you are now on is Westow Hill. Cross Westow Hill so you are near Palace Kebabs. Walk down Westow Hill (which isn’t a hill, oddly enough) away from the junction where you crossed until you get to Pizza Express. Turn left at Pizza Express down St Aubyn’s Road. Then take the second road on the right, which is Telford Close. Walk straight on and my house is number 8, in front of you at the end.
Other buses: 122, 157, 202, 227, 249, 322, 358, 363, 410, 417, 432, 450

Thank you!

I’m rather enjoying the fact that I’m not posting a desperate call for volunteers this time. Subject to confirmation, we have a full calendar of events (well, very nearly) until next Winter Solstice! So thank you everyone who volunteered to organise a meeting. And thank you especially to Daniel for doing all the co-ordinating. You’re a hero.

Julie Bond has volunteered to organise our Imbolc Ceremony. It will be at 2pm (note earlier start than usual) on Sunday 29th January at Horsenden Hill (directions below).

Please bring a candle lantern if you have one.

Meet at the car park at 2pm, and we will go to a suitable site from there. Horsenden Hill can be reached from Sudbury Hill tube station (Piccadilly Line) or Perivale tube station (Central Line). It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the car park from either of the stations. More detailed directions below.

Please phone myself or Lorraine in advance to let us know if you’re coming along, (or leave a comment here) and we’ll let Julie know.

Directions from Perivale station (Central Line)
On leaving the station, turn right, and walk straight along the road (Horsenden Lane South). Cross over the junctions with Buckingham Avenue and Bilton Road. About 8 minutes from the start, you will come to a place where the road narrows and crosses the Grand Union Canal via a bridge. Cross the bridge and keep straight on into Horsenden Lane North. The road now becomes wooded on both sides. After about another 5 minutes walk, you will see a driveway entrance signposted as a car park entrance on your right. Walk up the driveway for about 200 yards until you reach the car park, where we will be meeting.

Directions from Sudbury Hill station (Piccadilly Line)
Not sure which way you have to turn on leaving the station but you need to be walking South along Greenford Road. If you pass Cavendish Avenue on your left, YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY, so turn around!!! If you are walking in the right direction, you will pass Horsenden Avenue on your LEFT within a minute of leaving the station. Cross Horsenden Avenue and then Gainsboro Gardens, then turn left down Whitton Avenue. Now take the third turning on your right (Melville Avenue) which leads into Horsenden Lane North. Just carry straight on, walking past some shops, then a pub called The Ballot Box. The road now becomes wooded on both sides. About 200 yards further on, you will see a driveway entrance signed as a car park on your left. Go up the driveway for about 200 yards until you reach the car park, where we will be meeting.
