Today I saw that the poppy seeds I planted at my equinox ceremony have come up despite being spilled and shoved unceremoniously back into the pot.

Hilde your sunrise sounds gorgeous. I've never managed to see a spectacular one. Whenever I've got up at dawn it's been a misty rainy non-event - like last year's Summer Solstice. Still, mist and rain havetheir own subtle beauty.

Thank you for sharing, Lorraine and Liz.
My Equinox celebration happened the weekend before. At the Living Druidry weekend, we all got up at about 5am on Sunday morning and went to the top of a hill to see the sun rise. It was one of the most magical moments I've ever experienced. Just before the sun rose, I could feel a change. Just seconds later, a cloud in the East started to turn pink and red. Then it got a silver edge that burned brighter and brighter until the sun rose from behind it. At the same time, a skylark rose and sang. Magical.
We should try that again some time!

Happy April everybody ! I did a solo ritual with some seeds but succeered in knocking the pot over in the garden. However, at risk of sounding pretentious, it's the spiritual planting that counts. I thought particularly of a friend of mine who has anorexia and has just gone into hospital again, asking that she may find a new way through her problems with the advent of spring.

Lorraine, I look forward to seeing your garden again at some stage, may all your seeds - material adn spiritual grow true.

I hope Andrew gets well soon.

Today I'm planting some a couple of seeds saved from the Mirabilis jalapa which was given to us by Petra at the previous year's ritual. I also still have some forget-me-nots in the garden which self-seed and come back each year, which were donated by Anna a few years ago. I like that sense of continuity.

I didn't perform a ritual for the Equinox (was going to, but didn't get around to it). Instead Daniel and I went over to the RSPB reserve in Rainham Marshes on the Sunday, enjoying the sun on our faces in spite of a cutting breeze. We saw a kestrel while we were there.
