Seedgroup after Beltaine

So, as discussed yesterday, we will do the Seed Group Meeting in the Chelsea Physics Garden, as it is quite central. 3pm at the main entrance at Swan Walk – entrance fee £6. Nearest tube is Sloane Square.

I will bring my book on herbs, and probably another one on medicinal plants, and we can explore the garden at leisure.

[ Petra originally wrote this – Daniel has added Petra’s comments to the main topic, so that anyone who takes a glance will see we are now going to Chelsea, and not H.Hill as originally suggested. The original post said:
“I would like to do a seedgroup on plants again – this time hopefully better organized. My idea was to have a walk around Horsenden Hill and take a look at trees, bushes and herbs growing wild there, identifying them and maybe learning something about them.
Any thoughts and ideas to this issues are welcome.”]

  1. I have been thinking about this seed group again, and remembered the Royal Physics Garden in Chelsea - it is quite central, not too expensive (I hope - Kew Gardens now charges 10£ entry fee!!!), and it specializes in herbs and healing plants. I thought this would capture more the idea I had about this seedgroup, as I wanted to focus primarily on healing and the use of plants for this. What is your opinion on it?

  2. A good idea, in my opinion. Lorraine and I went there a few years back, but there was a problem with getting in, I seem to remember. You should check the opening hours, as I’m not sure it is open Sunday afternoon all the time. We could probably find a pub to retire to afterwards, or a cafe on the Kings Road (if they bother opening Sunday). What does anyone else think?

  3. I would like to go there. I had a look at the website http://www.chelseaphysicgarden.co.uk and it appears to be open on Sundays 2-6pm (we probably tried to visit on a Saturday previously). Entrance fee is £6.

  4. I tried to go there once and couldn’t get in. So it might be a bit tricky. Also, it depends on what you want to do with the plants. I wouldn’t feel comfortable picking bits of plant to play with in a place like that. But then it depends on what kind of place it is. It sounds good though. Worth a try. Whatever you decide, Petra, let us know by 10 April so I can send out a paper Raven well before Beltane.

  5. I took a look at the Website of the Chelsea Physics Garden, and they are open on Wednesdays from 12am to 5 pm, ans Sundays from 2pm to 6pm - just in time for our Seed Group Meeting. So, as discussed yesterday, we will do the Seed Group Meeting in the Chelsea Physics Garden, as it is quite central. 3pm at the main entrance at Swan Walk - entrance fee 6£.

  6. Petra, I hope you don’t mind - I took it upon myself to put your comment at the top, so that someone who sees the post without all the comments can see what we are planning at a glance. And I added the nearest tube.
