Ankerwyke Yew

Filed under: Conversation — hilde @ 5:46 pm

Thank you, Lorraine, for sending this photo. And thank you to Francesca and Daniel for organising this beautiful meeting. That yew tree is a really impressive being, making the place where it stands sacred.
Somebody said that the photo was going to look like a bunch of really good children on a school outing, but I think it shows the calming and grounding effect the tree had on us all. Our little gathering and meditation will now be part of its very long memory.

Here are few of my pictures. My camera isn’t very good in anything other than bright light, though. And, sadly, Daniel is asleep on this one.

And a couple of atmospheric ones:

  1. I’d love to see the other photos that were taken that day, (hint hint) as long as I don’t look too scary in them!

  2. Thanks for these! It’s lovely to have a memento. I particularly like the ‘tree within a tree’ one - the secret world going on inside the trunk that no-one can get to, only glimpse. Like the spirit world. I wonder if people ever come and spend Samhain at the yew? I certainly would if I lived near enough!
