Here are the dates for the next quarter of London Grove events. If you want them to happen, please volunteer to organise one of them. It’s not as scary as it sounds: you don’t have to do it on your own.
30/10/05: Samhain (Mark organising)
27/11/05: Ancestors (Lorraine and Hilde organising)
18/12/05: Winter Solstice (volunteers needed)
8/1/06: seedgroup (Francesca organising)
So far, nobody has volunteered for the Winter Solstice ceremony. There is still time to do so. If no-one comes forward, we will have no celebration for Alban Arthan.
How would people feel about a seedgroup about the Gods - how we perceive Deity/Deities? I noticed a while ago that there is always an option in the brown booklets for saying either God/Goddess or Spirit in rituals, would it be interesting to explore those ideas a bit? Or is it too personal? I couldn’t host a seedgroup but would happily organise or co-organise one, whether about this or something else!

I think that is an excellent idea Francesca.

I like it! Sounds really interesting and profound.
You would be welcome to have it here in my house, but I would strongly encourage somebody else to host it if they have space. Here is a long way for quite a few people.

Oh good, if people are in favour I’ll start thinking about some ideas. I was going to say maybe we could have it outside, forgetting it’ll be January by then so the presence of Boreas might be a little too all-pervasive for us to be able to focus on anyone else! If anyone has any ideas about any aspects of this subject, let me know. We have plenty of time at least!

This does sound like an excellent idea. Recently I’ve had an urge to read up on Hinduism since I suspect it’s notion of “many names, one god” is quite similar to how I think about deity in Druidry. Between now and then I should be able to work enough out to at least be able to make a positive contribution.

Right up your street Andrew, in view of your new career path!

So, Francesca, can I put you on as organiser for 8 January then?
And is anyone volunteering their living room other than me?
Comment by hilde — 8/9/2005 @ 10:45 am
I would really love to and feel that I have not pulled my weight on the Seedgroup front, but by the 8th of Jan my small flat will be filled with baby detritus I’m afraid/I hope.
Comment by Andrew — 8/9/2005 @ 6:13 pm
Andrew, I think you’ve pulled your weight by turning up to things whenever you could! And it’s completely understandable about the baby detritus situation.
Francesca, I’d happily offer my place, but as I’m hosting something in Nov perhaps it’s too close and people won’t want to go to the same place too soon?
Comment by Lorraine — 12/9/2005 @ 8:39 pm
Don’t get me wrong, you CAN do it at my place, but it is a long way away for a lot of people. And it feels like quite a lot has been done here over the last year - though mind you it’s been a while… So if you want my living room you can have it.

Hi all, so sorry not to have got back before, I’ve been away! Yes do put me down for organising on 8th Jan. As far as hosting is concerned - well wherever people think really. All I know is that I definitely won’t be able to host it, unfortunately! Would love to if I could, but have no idea what may have happened by January! We may get more offers between now and Jan maybe and perhaps put down ‘provisionally’ at yours Hilde, if that’s all right?
Comment by francesca — 26/9/2005 @ 11:58 am
Hi Francesca, thanks for the message. We’ll put it down as my place then. Can you write out the actual event and put it in the Events category. I can always put a map for my place in later.
How are you doing? I hope life is treating you as well as may be expected. Take good care of yourself.
Comment by hilde — 26/9/2005 @ 12:04 pm
Hi Hilde Yes I’m doing OK thanks. I tried to write out some seedgroup blurb but it seemed to get lost and didn’t appear in the Events section! Is there something special I should have done?!
Will see you all at Samhain.
Comment by francesca — 11/10/2005 @ 4:51 pm
Hi Francesca,
I’m not sure why you post has got lost. Did you indicate it as an Event in the box on the right hand side of the page where you wrote it? I suggest you try again, and if it still doesn’t work, e-mail me the content and I’ll put it up.
If it doesn’t work it would also be handy if you could remember what you were doing at the moment that it went wrong. Then we can try and work out the cause of your troubles.
Thanks and good luck!

I don’t think we’re probably going to have a Winter Solstice ritual. Still, there’s the Assembly on the 17th, and I don’t think anyone attending that would have wanted to rush back for the next day. I might go to Assembly again this year. If anyone else is thinking of going let us know!
Comment by Lorraine — 19/10/2005 @ 7:13 pm
I am thinking of going to the assembly. Any idea how far ahead you have to book to get a place?
Comment by hilde — 19/10/2005 @ 9:33 pm
I can’t remember, but I’m not sure if the flyer has gone out yet - my subscription to Touchstone ran out in October. Have you had a recent copy? I don’t think booking late is necessarily a prob for the gathering but you might need more notice to secure a place if you’re planning to go to the chalice well ritual. It’s always handy leaving a bit of time to book a room, though I don’t think it’s as difficult as in midsummer.

There is a flyer for the Winter Gathering in the latest Touchstone - which arrived through my door earlier this week. It has a wonderful article on the London Plane tree by Anna in it.
Comment by Andrew — 20/10/2005 @ 7:47 pm
Arg, I forgot to resubscribe!
Comment by Lorraine — 21/10/2005 @ 10:50 pm
Unfortunately don’t think I can go on the 17th anyway - have just been told about a family thing which clashes, and I think I’ll cause major offence if I don’t go!
Comment by Lorraine — 22/10/2005 @ 12:04 pm
I can’t edit my comments so here goes again - I’ve been told the family event is now cancelled so Daniel and I will probably be going to Assembly after all!
Comment by Lorraine — 22/10/2005 @ 5:17 pm
I am going to the winter assembly, as is Samantha. We are all booked in and sorted.

It’s not a good time for us to go away at the moment, so we won’t be going to assembly after all.
