SEEDGROUP MEETING – 2nd JUNE 2007 AT 1.00pm
First of all, sorry to everyone for the delay in setting this up. Unfortunately, I have had a family crisis to deal with which is taking up a lot of my time and energy and leaving me stressed out.
However, what I have come up with is a tour around the sacred sites of Greenwich Park. I have managed to dig up my copy of Jack Gale’s Booklet from the early 90’s ‘Playpark of the Gods – The Goddess in Greenwich’. I used this book a lot around that time for meditations in Greenwich Park, visiting the sites he lists there including:-
The Temple of Diana
‘The Cathedral’
The Motherstone, or Fountain Site
Maidenstone Hill
Fairyland – the place of the Muses
The Land of the Snow Queen
Also
A Saxon burial site and a ‘lost’ sacred well on nearby Point Hill.
I will bring my copy of Jack Gale’s booklet and we can tour round at our leisure, perhaps comparing our own impressions of these places with those Jack Gale outlines in his book.
At some point we may want to do some sort of meditation, perhaps at a site we feel most drawn to.
I will provisionally suggest a 1 o’clock meeting at Greenwich Station, it is then a short walk to the Park.
Please bring anything you feel drawn to bringing.
Again apologies for the short notice on this but circumstances have diverted my attention and energies elsewhere over the past few weeks.
Mike
I’ve spent a lot of time around the park before, particularly at the ‘Motherstone’ and ‘Holda’ areas. I was only there last weekend and spent a little time at the remains of the Roman Temple - I wonder if it is known to be a temple to Diana or whether it is just personal gnosis on Jack Gale’s part, but either way it is interesting. If I come along I’ll try to remember to bring along another of Jack Gale’s books (Goddesses, Guardians and Groves) and a printout of a hymn to Diana, if I find a translation which isn’t utterly cheesy. I think Daniel has to work that day so it’s a matter whether I can work out the public transport.

Thank you for that, that would be appreciated and I hope you can make it. It has been a long time since I read the Jack Gale booklet so I refreshed myself with it briefly over the weekend. My memory had distorted things and so I was under the impression that ‘the temple’ WAS known to be a roman temple of Diana, but rereading it I found that it was, as you say, ‘gnosis’ on the part of Jack Gale. The same way I was sure I had read that the ‘Motherstone’ had been taken from ‘Kits Coty House’ on Bluebell Hill, but again on rereading I found that the stone had ‘been taken from the same area of Kent’ and again this is a supposition made by gnosis. Hohum.
I do not intend to do much research as my plan is to compare Jack Gale’s impressions and gnoses of the area with ours and see what we come up with. I have always wanted to go around the Park with others to see what they come up with.
Hope to see you there and hope you are keeping well and my best to Daniel.

This might be of interest, though again, it doesn’t tell us that much…
